Approach

Hilary is a leadership development consultant and coach with over 10 years’ experience working across the corporate, public and voluntary and community sectors. Her key areas of work are in training and facilitation, coaching and co-production. Hilary builds relationships of trust and supportive challenge that enable clients to gain a deeper awareness and understanding of their own strengths and resources to make meaningful and sustainable change at an individual, team and systemic level.

Leadership Development, Coaching & Consulting Experience

Hilary has worked with a wide range of health and social care organisations, including supporting the development of patient voice organisations such as Healthwatch and Experts by Experience (a nationally recognised best-practice example of co-production from Look Ahead). Hilary has delivered leadership training to leaders across the private, public and voluntary sectors and is a pro-bono member of the leadership team for WYSE International, a leadership education NGO affiliated with the United Nations. She serves as a Programme Director for the Internal Leadership Programme which identifies emerging leaders around the world and supports them to create change in their communities. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of the Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce (RSA), nominated for her contribution to the development of co-production best practice.

Other Relevant Experience

Hilary’s original background is in learning and development, gained at a global management consultancy where she worked on large-scale projects for the Department for Work and Pensions. She has worked at grassroots and strategic levels to drive the development of co-production thinking and best practice.

Hilary was a founding member of a national social enterprise utilising time credit systems as a mechanism for creating person-centred services, working in partnership with the New Economics Foundation (nef) and the National Endowment for Science and the Arts (NESTA).

Hilary has designed and delivered a national co-production training programme for health and social care practitioners, commissioners, housing and community development professionals and has supported a number of local authorities to co-design their services with their service users. She is experienced in working with diverse groups and has run co-design workshops and training with asylum seekers, adult mental health service users, carers, drug and alcohol support service users and adults with learning disabilities.
