CHALLENGES

The Purpose Challenge

How effective is your shared vision and mission? Is it aligned with your people’s sense of purpose? What would your organisation be like if it fulfilled its potential?

The Vision and Mission Deficit

Many organisations are built for short term efficiency or fast growth, sometimes at the expense of long term effectiveness and sustainable growth.

Desired cultures become difficult to live out, innovation becomes slow, and post-conventional impact appears to slip out of reach. Talented people might leave, and the ones who stay might not be aligned around an effective vision.

The State of Many Organisations

  • Swept along by the most urgent needs and challenges
  • A loose vision open to misinterpretation
  • Strategies that don’t gain traction over the long term
  • Executive teams in transition or conflict

Eventually many organisations need external insight to challenge the existing thinking, discuss controversial topics and develop the executive team. This can help to recenter a company in crisis or to develop a story capable of inspiring and propelling the organisation forward.

How We Help You Start the Journey

It’s not always easy to diagnose what your organisation needs internally. Through conversations with your leadership team, we get to know your purpose, your culture, your strategy, your mission – and we sift through what is really at stake.

Through surveys, focus groups and other means we also go beyond the boardroom to understand perspectives and perception at all levels of your organisation.

We then combine top-down and bottom-up information to provide an initial understanding of the status quo. Which we then reflect back to you… and the journey begins

How to Address the Purpose Challenge

The Culture Disconnect

Many organisations experience a disconnect between the culture they say they want, and the culture they experience day-to-day. To close the gap, you need your people to accurately and autonomously identify systems and behaviours that don’t align with your values, vision and mission.

The Strategy Disconnect

Strategies can fail to inspire your people, achieve long term results, or be executed at all levels of an organisation. To achieve the future you envision, you need to be able to articulate it in a way that resonates with your people’s sense of purpose and the needs of other stakeholders.
