Cultural Articulation

Define the culture that will in turn define your organization for years to come – in the eyes of your people and wider stakeholders.

What is Cultural Articulation?

Cultural articulation is the process of defining the kind of culture you wish to have, based on your organization’s history, purpose, values and strategic needs. By distilling this down, you can begin to ask: how much do our current practices reflect the culture we collectively need and desire?

It’s essential to define your desired culture in order to:

  • Cast vision for where your organization is going
  • Create alignment at all levels of your organization
  • Identify leadership styles and behaviors that prevent change
  • Identify systems and structures that do not support change

How We Approach Cultural Articulation in Your Organization

Cultural articulation is part of a whole-business approach that helps you deliver on your organizational strategy. Starting from the inside out, our approach is measured, experiential, and sustainable.

Articulating the Journey-to-Date

Every organization is already its own kind of miracle, and should be proud of what it has achieved. To move forward, it’s important to look back at where you have come from, find what’s already working, amplify it, and integrate what you have learned with your present challenges and vision.

Articulating Purpose

Your organization’s purpose is what lends your vision focus and meaning. But if your organization’s purpose is to be authentic and effective, it can’t be defined entirely from the top. We work with people at all levels of your wider organization to articulate a purpose that will resonate and inspire.

Articulating Values

Your organizational values lie at the heart of the behaviors and ways of thinking that you want your organization to embody. But values are only effective when they are clear and can be articulated in a way that can concretely shape your organization’s structures and systems.

Articulating Key Behaviors and Leadership Models

We’ll use various leadership development frameworks to help you make sense of the leadership behaviors you need and the underlying psychological logic behind them. This will allow your people to identify old patterns of thinking and work to prevent them from undermining your desired culture.

Clarifying the Vision for Change

Vision provides a goal that defines your organization’s focus. But while leaders don’t need to dictate how that vision should be achieved, the vision cannot afford to be vague or misinterpreted. We work with you to ensure the vision is clear so it can be lived by all.
