Luís believes that each individual holds the key to his or her own unlimited potential. He supports a step-by-step approach, encouraging a strong understanding of the self and others, in order to map a change journey.

In his coaching activity he aims to create a setting where people feel comfortable and dare to be vulnerable, co-creating strong relationships to achieve the desired results. He combines Portuguese warmth, stemming from his roots, with Dutch pragmatism and positive attitude, from living in The Netherlands. His recent experience gained in China, contributes to broaden perspectives in a fast-changing World and assist people and organisations to amplify their strengths.

Leadership Development Experience

Luís’ connection with coaching originated at the beginning of his international career, when he started working at Unilever, more than 20 years ago. This coincided with a Unilever leadership program in Ashridge, UK, as well as other coaching activities. At Unilever, Luís had a variety of leading roles, ranging from global responsibility for complex multi-functional projects involving innovation, to marketing and sales roles, introducing products and services in a co-ordinated fashion over more than 100 countries. For one of these projects, he and team received a yearly award from Unilever CEO for ‘significant business contribution’.

After his corporate career with European and American multinationals, Luís moved closer to his main interest, people, by working on executive search and talent management. He conducted a high number of talent projects, including in-depth and mutually enriching interactions with candidates and clients. His focus was on identifying and fostering top talent, with a strong emphasis on diversity (gender, age, industrial, cultural and geographical backgrounds). From Philips and Heineken, two of his main clients, Luís and his team received an award for ‘best supplier’ amongst a large number of vendors, as a recognition for the results provided, the service level and the long-term relationship approach.

Other Relevant Experience

Luís built up an experience of fifteen years with ‘Toastmasters’, a large international, educational organisation, which focuses on public speaking. This makes him experienced and well equipped in reading audiences, facilitation and supporting others with communication goals, both at an individual and team level.

More recently, Luís enlarged his expertise by living in China. Based in Shanghai, he worked with a Chinese company, focusing on recruitment, talent management and coach training under the ICF (International Coaching Federation). In 2016, after his move from China to Europe, Luis joined the TPC The Netherlands as a partner.
