Our Context

Launched in the UK in 2000 as ‘The Performance Coach’, TPC Leadership today is a global leadership development consultancy with 15 offices on 5 continents. The total TPC Leadership community consists of app. 250 highly-acclaimed experts. We believe the world would be in a better place, if it were in the hands of better leaders. Our mission is therefore to inspire a stronger leadership in our client organisations. Based on our unique approach, combining head, heart, solid professionalism, and a spirit of abundance and generosity, we are lucky to see our business grow. We support large organisations in private, public, and non-profit sectors. I opened the Brussels office in 2013 and most of our clients are located in Belgium – even if increasingly we build client relationships across borders. We support them through interventions such as coaching (of individuals and teams), leadership development trainings, and leadership consulting. All our client work is designed tailor-made, and (in Belgium) delivered by a team of currently five exceptional freelance experts. We are supported by a Business Support Manager who manages admin, projects, and marketing.

Next to these client assignments, we are also an accredited coaching institute, offering a portfolio of leadership & coaching skills training courses. Feedback from our extremely diverse body of Alumni often reads that it has been the best and most truly transformational leadership experience they have ever had.

Revenues last year were around €250k and we expect to reach €300k this year, and the business is profitable.

The case for change

In our industry, sales cycles are long, since they are built on a foundation of trust. We establish deep relationships with our client counterparts in order to become trusted advisors. After 4 years as Managing Partner (and only Partner in the local organization), I am now at the point of reaching the limit of number of client relationships I can meaningfully manage on my own. Also internally – domestic and international – functional areas (Marketing, HR, Operations…) need to be managed. Our business would tremendously benefit from having an additional Partner on board who can independently establish, manage, and grow a client portfolio, who could take up some internal functional role too, and someone who makes a strong complementary team with me.

Your profile

  • You are entrepreneurial and sales-driven, relational and networked more than transactional. Money is not the goal, it is an outcome of the value you create for clients.
  • You can bring your own portfolio of clients, and/or are able to grow your own portfolio of clients from scratch.
  • You are inspired and held by our values. You want to make a meaningful difference, and you want to be part of something bigger. You treat everyone with the respect they deserve, and you look after the wellbeing of our people, our clients, our planet, and yourself. You are resilient, taking the long-term view (when I joined I was asked to take a 5-10y horizon). You are used to very high standards. You make a difference the moment you join the conversation.
  • You bring a track record of solid, recognized experience in terms of leadership development, combined with at least 10y of relevant professional experience (ideally corporate or consulting). You are an independent and inspiring thought partner for senior HR and CxO counterparts in their field.
  • You are fluent (written & spoken) in EN, and in NL and/or FR, familiarity/affinity with Belgian market is a plus.

Your role

First and foremost, your role is to grow the business. You will establish new client relationships, identify client opportunities, convert them into projects, sometimes look after design & delivery yourself, and manage the relationship.

In addition, we see two internal roles. First, at global level, you will be invited to join a TPC Leadership Practice Area where we gather and develop our topical expertise; domestically, you would also look after a functional area of TPC Leadership Belgium in line with your personal strengths e.g. Marketing, Operations, HR…

Our modus operandi

Our freelance experts earn a % of revenues, the balance flowing to TPC Leadership. They work without sales target since this is not expected from them. For Partners, this is similar and yet different. You would also work on a freelance basis (i.e. no fixed salary), but would receive a % of revenues for the work designed or delivered. In addition, we will agree on an individual sales target which, when met or exceeded, triggers an additional kickback payout to you. Living our values is also a part of how we measure performance. If after 2 years of hitting your sales targets and receiving positive 360° feedback, and we both like the idea of deepening the relationship, the next step would be joining the firm’s equity.

We are cool with the fact that you would work up to 1/5th of your work time on other, related or unrelated (though non-competitive) projects. You could get as much international/global exposure as you would like, with some likely travel. We work mostly virtually, and meet in our Brussels co-working space.
