Leadership Development & Consulting Experience

Al is a media executive with extensive experience of leading news organisations, corporate and digital transformation, and championing editorial excellence.

Al's career spans three decades with global media companies, half as a journalist in the field and half in leadership roles. He was Chief Executive of Al Jazeera America in New York, Managing Director of Al Jazeera English based in Doha, Head of Foreign News at ITV in the UK, and Asia Editor at Associated Press Television News. He began his career with CBS News, and worked for Reuters on the start-up of GMTV breakfast television in the UK.  In his early career Al worked in the field for over a decade covering events ranging from major global conflicts to the Olympic Games.

Throughout his career Al has been involved in transformation. He was part of the start-up of APTN, was a member of the launch team of Al Jazeera English and was Network Director of Media Development and Head of New Media at Al Jazeera Network.  Since leaving Al Jazeera America in 2016 Al has been Chief Executive of Collingwood Worldwide, advising multiple global companies on media and content strategy, digital transformation and strategic communications.

Al has lived and worked in the UK, America, Australia, India and Qatar, and has led global teams of over 2000 staff from all regions of the world.
